5/27/2023 EnchantaVaughn Approved 1.Behavior: Upon arrival to the home, Ben-Nita appeared to be in a good mood. QMHP-C informed Ben-Nita that the session would begin with QMHP-C and her discussing how she can refrain from negative peer interaction. QMHP-C then informed her that she would meet with the therapist for the remainder of the session. 2. Behavior: Ben-Nita presented negtivae behaviors as she was screaming to the top of her lungs when she was redirected by her mother on how she continues to discuss the same things with her when she presents these behaviors in the home. 1.Intervention: QMHP-C informed Ben-Nita that the session will focus on reasons for negative peer involvement due to the Ben-Nita associating herself around peers, who involve themselves in negative behaviors or try to convince Ben-Nita to join in with them. QMHP-C probed Ben-Nita on what she looks for in a real friend. QMHP-C provided Ben-Nita examples of things that she should look for in peers/friends. QMHP-C explained to Ben-Nita an exercise that she was encouraged to participate in. This exercise identified the reasons for Ben-Nita’s excessive involvement with negative peers. QMHP-C was sensitive and alert to any rejection experiences, family stressors, environmental factors, or feelings of insecurity that contributed to Ben-Nita gravitating toward negative peers. QMHP-C processed with Ben-Nita that before she begins to disengage herself from these negative peers, she needed to learn how to do this effectively and permanently. 2. Intervention: QMHP-C processed with Ben-Nita that before she begins to disengage herself from these negative peers, she needed to learn how to do this effectively and permanently. QMHP-C taught Ben-Nita positive social skills and assertiveness training to help her successfully resist negative peer influences. QMHP-C also assisted in Ben-Nita in developing effective coping strategies to deal with her feelings of insecurity or rejection. QMHP-C processed with Ben-Nita that there can be a variety of reasons as to why teenagers hang out with the wrong crowd or go along with their peers and get into trouble. Ben-Nita was asked to review a list of some of these reasons and then select the top three reasons why she has become involved with the peers that have influenced her to do negative things. 1. Response: Ben-Nita was receptive to QMHP-C’s intervention and the services that were provided to her during today’s session. Ben-Nita QMHP-C that when it comes to friendship, she looks for someone who is going to be honest, respectful, and understanding as well as “keeping it real” with her. Ben-Nita admitted to QMHP-C that she tends to hang around certain peers because they are cool, they have a lot in common, and because others respect them and do not pick on them. Ben-Nita refused to admit that she might hang around them because she was looking for acceptance from those who were considered to be “cool”. 2. Response: Ben-Nita informed QMHP-C that nobody can make her do anything that she does not want to do and she tended to participate in negative acts with her peers because she wanted. However, Ben-Nita contradicted herself as she stated that she wanted to fight her peer at one point because her other friends were around them. Ben-Nita did well with participating in the role-playing scenarios. She laughed and told QMHP-C that she thought the scenarios implemented were a little extreme and she would never let others peer pressure her to participate in anything that would cause her to get into trouble with the law because she has been there before and she is not trying to do that again.
